Types of Financial Aid
UIJ offers several forms of financial assistance to help students finance their education. Aid is awarded based on financial need, academic merit, or a combination of both.
- Grants — Need-based aid that does not need to be repaid
- Scholarships — Merit-based and need-based awards (see Scholarships page)
- Work-Study — On-campus and remote employment opportunities
- Payment Plans — Spread tuition across the semester
How to Apply
To be considered for financial aid, students must complete the financial aid application each academic year. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with priority given to early applicants.
- Complete the UIJ Financial Aid Application online
- Submit supporting income documentation
- Priority deadline: March 1 for the following academic year
- Applications reviewed within 4–6 weeks
Work-Study Program
The Federal Work-Study and institutional work-study programs provide part-time employment opportunities for eligible students. Jobs are available in university offices, libraries, research centers, and community partner organizations—both on-campus and remotely.
- Up to 20 hours per week during the semester
- Flexible scheduling around class times
- Remote positions available for online students
- Minimum wage or higher depending on the role
Tuition Payment Plans
For students who prefer to pay tuition in installments rather than in full at the start of each semester, UIJ offers flexible payment plans at no additional interest.
- 3-payment plan per semester
- Automatic bank draft or card payment
- No interest; small enrollment fee applies
- Available through the student billing portal
